The Wyoming Arts Council and Wyoming State Parks have announced the dates and locations for the 2025 Plein Air in the Parks events, an annual celebration of outdoor painting and Wyoming’s scenic beauty, County 10 reports.

Next year’s first event will be held June 27–29 at Hot Springs State Park in Thermopolis. The second will take place September 10–14 at Edness Kimball Wilkins State Park near Casper.

Early bird registration for the Hot Springs State Park event is now available through Eventbrite. Artists interested in participating are encouraged to sign up in advance, though both events welcome participants for any or all days of the respective gatherings.

Launched in 2018 at Sinks Canyon State Park, Plein Air in the Parks is a collaboration designed to engage artists in the plein air tradition — creating artwork outdoors, on-site — while showcasing Wyoming’s diverse natural landscapes. The initiative has grown into a popular fixture on the state’s cultural calendar.

The events are open to both artists and the public. In addition to the painting sessions, attendees can enjoy park activities and a closing reception that features a show and sale of works created during the event. The final day includes opportunities for visitors to meet the artists, view and purchase artwork, and vote for the People’s Choice Award. Additional prizes are awarded by a panel of external jurors.

The series is strategically scheduled to mark the beginning and end of Wyoming State Parks’ peak season, offering a creative way to explore the outdoors while supporting local and regional artists.
