Fort McCoy Commander Relieved of Duty Over Missing Trump, Vance, Hegseth Photos

The commander of Fort McCoy, Col. Sheyla Baez Ramirez, has been relieved of her duties following an incident where the US Army base failed to display photos of President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on a wall showcasing the chain of command, Fox News reports.
The US Army Reserve Command confirmed Ramirez’s suspension, stating:
“This suspension is not related to any misconduct. We have no further details to provide at this time while this matter is under review.”
The situation gained public attention when Hegseth reposted an X post claiming Ramirez had been suspended due to the missing photos.
The Defense Department (DOD) had previously launched an investigation into the missing photos. A subsequent post from the DOD’s rapid response account showed the frames had been filled, stating:
“Regarding the Ft. McCoy Chain of Command wall controversy…. WE FIXED IT! Also, an investigation has begun to figure out exactly what happened.”
Ramirez assumed the role of garrison commander in July of last year. Her previous assignments include chief of the Reserve Program, United States Army Intelligence and Security Command at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
This incident follows a series of leadership shake-ups within the US military. Earlier this month, the commander of Pituffik Space Force Base in Greenland, Col. Susannah Meyers, was fired for allegedly “undermining” Vice President Vance. Following Vance’s visit, Meyers sent an email to base personnel expressing concerns that the administration’s views, as discussed by Vance, did not reflect the sentiment at Pituffik Space Base. The Space Force stated Meyers was relieved of command due to “loss of confidence in her ability to lead.”
Additionally, Secretary Hegseth recently terminated four aides after internal conflicts and a leak investigation. Hegseth attributed the leaks regarding a second Signal chat discussing Houthi strikes, which included his wife, brother, and personal lawyer, to “disgruntled employees.”
