The University of Wyoming men’s basketball team continues to reshape its roster for the upcoming season with the addition of transfer guard Adam Harakow from Lake Superior State, Casper Star-Tribune reports.
Harakow announced his commitment to the Cowboys on Monday via social media.
Harakow, a 6-foot-7 combo guard from Edmonton, Alberta, spent the past two seasons at NCAA Division II Lake Superior State in Michigan. This past season, he averaged 11.8 points and 4.4 rebounds per game while shooting 47% from the field and an impressive 40% from beyond the arc, hitting 37 of 93 three-point attempts. He played primarily off the bench for the Lakers, who finished the year with a 30-7 overall record and a 16-4 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
Harakow becomes the fourth backcourt addition for Wyoming this offseason and the second wing player, joining Buddy Hammer Jr., Damarion Dennis, and Khaden Bennett. The Cowboys are rebuilding their guard rotation after losing all six scholarship guards from last season.
In addition to Harakow’s commitment, head coach Sundance Wicks also announced the hiring of Chris Thomas as an assistant coach. Thomas brings 20 years of coaching experience, including time as the head coach of KK Cibona Zagreb in the Adriatic Basketball League and various roles with NBA organizations such as the Chicago Bulls, Golden State Warriors, Utah Jazz, and Toronto Raptors.
“For this assistant (opening), I was specifically targeting an elite offensive mind and a coach who could add next-level professional experience to our program — cue coach Chris Thomas,” Wicks said in a statement. “I have known CT since 2007 when he was an advanced scout for the Chicago Bulls. Coach Thomas is such a great hire for what we want to do here at Wyoming.”
Before his professional coaching career, Thomas played collegiately at Dayton and most recently served as an assistant coach at Long Island University from 2022 to 2024.
“I am very excited for this opportunity,” Thomas said. “For me, it is important to work with people you trust and care about. I have known coach Wicks for almost 20 years and I believe in his vision for this program both on and off the court.”
