In 2025, the real estate landscape in Wyoming continues to reflect broader national trends, with home prices climbing in many areas, Wyoming New Now reports.

A recent analysis using data from Zillow identifies the Wyoming cities with the most expensive home values, highlighting the ongoing impact of location, home size, and market conditions on property costs.

As of March 2025, the typical home value in the United States stands at $359,741, marking a 1.2% increase over the previous year. Rising mortgage rates—currently at 6.83% for a 30-year fixed loan—have also contributed to higher monthly housing costs, intensifying affordability concerns for many buyers.

Wyoming, while known for its scenic landscapes and rural charm, is home to several cities where home prices are significantly above the national average. Topping the list is Wilson, located in the Jackson metro area, with a typical home value of $3.13 million, despite a slight decline of 1.3% over the past year. Close behind are Jackson and Alta, both also in the Jackson metro, with typical values of $1.99 million and $1.79 million, respectively.

The top 5 most expensive cities in the state include:

  1. Wilson – $3,132,885

  2. Jackson – $1,992,469

  3. Alta – $1,789,481

  4. Moran – $1,649,029

  5. Parkman – $625,681

Other notable cities such as Sheridan, Gillette, and Evanston appear multiple times in the top 30 rankings. Sheridan leads in representation with six cities listed, followed by Gillette and Jackson, each with four.

Even smaller towns such as Cora, Dubois, and Shell report typical home values well above $400,000, a reflection of increased demand in remote or scenic areas. Some cities have seen notable growth over five years, with places like Alta, Bear River, and Hulett recording price increases of over 70%.

While the luxury housing market remains strong in Wyoming’s most expensive areas, the broader market continues to grapple with high mortgage rates and affordability challenges. For potential buyers, especially first-timers, navigating these market dynamics remains a key consideration when deciding where to purchase a home.
