The Wyoming Symphony Orchestra (WSO) has officially announced the two finalists for its annual Pursuit of the Podium fundraiser—a lighthearted yet impactful competition to select a guest conductor for the summer Pops in the Park concert on August 23, Oil City News reports.
The event, which doubles as a peer-to-peer fundraiser, invites community members to campaign for the opportunity to conduct one piece during the concert. Participants raise funds through virtual campaigns, with each dollar raised counting as a vote toward the podium. The finalist who secures the most support by the end of the competition will be awarded the guest conductor spot.
This year’s contenders are:
Tyler Disburg, representing Pathfinder Federal Credit Union. Disburg brings a professional background in financial services and higher education, with experience in marketing, business development, and economic initiatives. He previously led the Missoula Chapter of Montana Ambassadors, a nonprofit group focused on statewide development.
Tom McCarthy, a marketing consultant and longtime Casper musician. McCarthy has performed with various local groups, including the Tracy Pfau Trio and JuJu Jazz, and is known for his advocacy and passion for the arts in the Casper community.
The deadline to contribute to a candidate’s fundraiser is May 31. The winner will be announced in early June.
All proceeds from the Pursuit of the Podium fundraiser go toward supporting the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra’s mission, upcoming concert season, and community engagement efforts.
