Chess players of all skill levels will converge in Sheridan from May 2 to May 4 for the Wyoming Community Foundation Open Chess Tournament, a nationally recognized event now in its fourth year, Sheridan Media reports.
The tournament, organized by the Sheridan Chess Association, will feature a strong competitive field, including three grandmasters, three national masters, three life masters, and multiple state champions from Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado.
“This is a major national chess tournament, and we’re excited to welcome players from all over the country,” said Dan Casey, Secretary of the Sheridan Chess Association.
The elite division of the tournament will begin its first round at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 2, at the Bridges Campus located at 13 Lane Lane, the former site of NSI, just off Big Goose Road.
The tournament is open to players of all abilities, from beginners to professionals. Those interested in participating can register through the Sheridan Chess Association’s website.
