Netflix has rolled out a major redesign of its streaming interface in an effort to make it easier for viewers to discover content, navigate the platform, and keep up with the company’s growing lineup of programming, Bloomberg reports.
The updated home page will feature real-time recommendations, streamlined promotional materials for shows and movies, and notifications for live events and gaming updates. The overhaul comes as Netflix faces mounting criticism from users who say the platform’s interface has become cluttered and overwhelming.
“Our redesigned TV home page is simpler, more intuitive, and better represents the breadth of entertainment on Netflix today,” said Eunice Kim, Netflix’s Chief Product Officer, during a press briefing on the update.
The redesign reflects Netflix’s evolving business strategy, which now includes not only traditional film and television but also video games, live sports events such as NFL games, and professional wrestling. The new interface will accommodate these newer offerings, including space for advertising as the company expands its ad-supported tier.
A key feature of the update is an enhanced AI-powered search tool, designed to help users more efficiently find titles they’re likely to enjoy. Netflix has also introduced new context cues — such as award nominations or trending status — to help guide viewing decisions.
