Clashes Erupt at Brooklyn College as NYPD Breaks Up Pro-Palestinian Encampment

Chaos unfolded at Brooklyn College on Thursday evening as a pro-Palestinian protest turned violent, prompting a heavy police response and multiple arrests, as per Fox News.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) was called to the campus after demonstrators attempted to set up an unauthorized encampment on the college quad. According to a statement from the school, protesters erected tents in violation of campus policy and refused repeated requests to dismantle the setup and disperse.
Video footage from the scene shows a tense and volatile atmosphere, with protesters—many wearing keffiyehs—shouting at police officers and resisting removal.
In one particularly dramatic moment, officers tased a male protester as he screamed while being restrained. Another clip shows officers urging a woman to remove her child from the area as tensions escalated.
Footage also captured officers wrestling protesters to the ground as other demonstrators shouted and attempted to intervene.
Brooklyn College issued a statement late Thursday night, explaining that the protesters had violated campus regulations by erecting tents.
“After multiple warnings to take the tents down and disperse, members of CUNY Public Safety and NYPD removed the tents and dispersed the crowd,” the statement read. “The safety of our campus community will always be paramount. Brooklyn College respects the right to protest while also adhering to strict rules meant to ensure the safe operation of our university.”
The protest comes just one day after a similar demonstration at Columbia University, where over 100 activists took over the Butler Library during finals week. In that incident, NYPD officers arrested approximately 80 individuals after the group refused to vacate the premises.
