Vice President JD Vance Hits Back at Biden Criticism on Ukraine, Trade, Domestic Reform

Vice President JD Vance responded sharply Thursday to recent criticism from former President Joe Biden, who earlier this week described the Trump-Vance administration’s recent Oval Office meeting with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky as “beneath America,”as per Fox News.
Vance dismissed Biden’s remarks and defended the administration’s approach to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
“I think it’s rich for Joe Biden to comment on anything that we’re doing when it comes to Russia and Ukraine,” Vance said. “I wish Joe Biden the best. I don’t really care what he has to say about American foreign policy because so much of what he actually did was a total disaster.”
Trade Deal with the UK, Tougher Stance on China
The vice president also discussed the Trump administration’s first formal trade agreement with the United Kingdom, calling it a “strong signal” of transatlantic cooperation. The deal follows the administration’s imposition of a 10% reciprocal tariff on UK imports earlier this year.
“Because of our long-time history and allegiance together, it is a great honor to have the United Kingdom as our FIRST announcement,” President Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Many other deals… to follow!”
Vance said China remains a difficult partner but emphasized the administration’s commitment to pursuing fair trade.
“We just want a deal with any country… that puts American workers and American businesses in a better position,” Vance said. “That’s very achievable.”
DOGE Investigations: Musk’s Role, Fraud Crackdown
Turning to domestic matters, Vance addressed recent developments within DOGE—the Trump administration’s flagship anti-waste and fraud initiative. Despite Elon Musk’s reduced public role in DOGE, Vance said the effort is far from over.
“Elon’s not disappearing,” he said. “We think there’s a lot more waste and fraud that we can find.”
He confirmed that Attorney General Pam Bondi is actively preparing investigations, with potential lawsuits on the horizon.
“She’s working on building the case against some of these people who have committed absolute fraud on the American people. You’ll see prosecutions over the next few years,” Vance stated.
Dismissing Rubio Rift, Hints at 2028
Vance also dismissed reports of internal rivalry between himself and Secretary of State Marco Rubio—both considered likely contenders for the GOP presidential nomination in 2028.
“Marco’s probably my best friend in the administration,” Vance said. “He’s doing a really good job. And, of course, I’m doing the best job that I can.”
Pressed on whether he’s considering a 2028 presidential run, Vance didn’t rule it out.
“I can see myself doing a really good job for the next 1,100 days,” he said. “Then the American people can figure it out from there.”
