Former University of Wyoming kicker John Hoyland has signed with the Baltimore Ravens following a successful tryout at the team’s rookie minicamp, the franchise announced Monday afternoon.
Hoyland, who went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft, will now compete for a spot on the Ravens’ roster alongside sixth-round draft pick Tyler Loop from the University of Arizona. The two kickers are vying to replace longtime Ravens standout Justin Tucker, who was released by the team last week.
Hoyland leaves Wyoming as the most prolific scorer in the football program’s history, amassing 366 points over five seasons. He holds the school record for career field goals made (73) and for the most field goals in a single season, hitting 22 in 2022.
During his college career, Hoyland converted 79.3% of his field goal attempts and 99.3% of his extra point tries. In 2024, he connected on 15 of 19 field goals and was highly reliable on short-range kicks, missing just two of 54 attempts from under 40 yards throughout his college tenure. According to the Ravens, three of his four missed field goals last season came from distances of 50 yards or more.
Hoyland’s consistent performance and accuracy earned him a spot on multiple All-Mountain West teams and now an opportunity to make his mark in the NFL.
