Gasoline prices in Wyoming have seen a slight decrease as the state moves into the summer season, K2 Radio reports.

According to GasBuddy’s weekly survey of 494 gas stations in the state, the average price of gasoline has dropped by 1.7 cents per gallon, bringing it to $3.09 per gallon as of today.

GasBuddy’s data reveals significant variation in prices across the state, with the cheapest station in Wyoming offering gas for $2.75 per gallon, while the most expensive station had prices as high as $3.89 per gallon. This price difference of $1.14 per gallon highlights the disparity in gasoline costs across various locations.

At the national level, the average price of gasoline has also seen a decrease, dropping by 4.2 cents per gallon in the last week to reach an average of $3.08 per gallon. Compared to a month ago, the national average has fallen by 8.6 cents, and it is 50.6 cents lower than it was at this time last year.

Despite an increase in oil prices, which have risen more than $4 per barrel, the national average continues to drop. This decline is attributed to refineries completing seasonal maintenance and preparing to increase gasoline output. Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, noted that while some minor fluctuations in prices could occur as Memorial Day approaches, significant changes in the national average are unlikely. He emphasized that the current levels represent the lowest seasonal prices seen since 2021.

In terms of regional trends, Wyoming’s neighboring states show mixed price movements. Fort Collins, Colorado, has seen a slight increase of 6.1 cents per gallon, with the price now at $3.01 per gallon. In Ogden, Utah, prices have dropped by 1.7 cents, reaching $3.19 per gallon, while Billings, Montana, has seen no change in its price, remaining at $3.06 per gallon.

Historically, gas prices in Wyoming have fluctuated throughout the years. On May 12, 2024, the price stood at $3.31 per gallon, compared to $3.34 per gallon on the same date in 2023. The lowest price in recent years occurred during the height of the pandemic in 2020, when prices dipped to $1.78 per gallon.
