FBI Foils ISIS-Inspired Attack Plot at Michigan Military Base; Director Patel Issues Stern Warning

FBI Director Kash Patel issued a strong warning Thursday after federal agents disrupted an alleged ISIS-inspired plot to carry out a mass shooting at a U.S. military facility in Michigan, as per Fox News.
“Let this be a warning: Anyone who targets our military or conspires with foreign terrorist organizations will be found, stopped, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Patel said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “I commend the men and women of the Joint Terrorism Task Force and our law enforcement partners for their continued dedication to protecting the American people.”
The FBI arrested 19-year-old Ammar Abdulmajid-Mohamed Said of Melvindale, Michigan, for allegedly planning an attack near the U.S. Army’s Tank-Automotive & Armaments Command (TACOM) at the Detroit Arsenal in Warren.
Federal authorities said Said, a former member of the Michigan Army National Guard, conducted surveillance using a drone, trained individuals on weapons use and explosives, and supplied armor-piercing ammunition for the plot. He also detailed operational plans, including how to infiltrate the base and which building to target.
Said is charged with attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization and distributing information related to a destructive device. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison for each count.
According to the Justice Department, Said began interacting with undercover FBI agents in mid-2024, believing them to be fellow ISIS supporters. In April 2025, he allegedly provided the agents with ammunition and tactical guidance in preparation for the attack.
Authorities also revealed that Said recommended attackers carry “about seven magazines” to avoid running out of ammunition during the assault.
Said enlisted in the Michigan Army National Guard in September 2022, completed basic training at Fort Moore, Georgia, and was later assigned to the Taylor Armory in Michigan. He was discharged from service in December 2024.
The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force is leading the ongoing investigation.
Patel praised the rapid response of the agencies involved.
“Our agents, intelligence teams, and partners acted quickly — and they saved lives,” he posted on X. “Well done to all on executing the mission.”
