Isabelle “Izzy” Murdock, a standout runner from Green River High School, has officially committed to continue her athletic and academic journey at Central Wyoming College in Riverton, where she will compete on the school’s cross country team, Green River Star reports.

Murdock, who has been passionate about running since elementary school, celebrated her commitment at a signing event surrounded by family and coaches. She began participating in cross country in the sixth grade and continued developing her skills through both cross country and track and field in high school.

“I liked running when I was in elementary and I was like, ‘may as well try it out,’ and ever since I’ve been doing it,” Murdock said, reflecting on her early start in the sport.

Throughout her high school career, Murdock became a consistent leader on her team, frequently finishing at the top in her races. While the sport presented its challenges, she emphasized her perseverance and the joy she found in pushing through tough moments.

“Running can be hard, but it just makes me feel good,” she said.

Murdock noted that one of her favorite aspects of competing was running alongside teammates and friends, which contributed greatly to her positive experience in high school athletics.

Looking ahead, she is eager to take on the more demanding training and competition at the collegiate level. She chose Central Wyoming because of its proximity to home and her familiarity with the program, including an opportunity to connect with one of the coaches at a previous meet.

Green River Head Cross Country Coach Craig Leavitt praised Murdock for her dedication and leadership.

“She is a great kid and a great leader on the team,” Leavitt said. “She is going to be great in college. We will really miss her.”
