If you’ve owned an Apple device with Siri capabilities anytime between September 2014 and December 2024, you may be entitled to receive up to $100 as part of a recently settled class action lawsuit against Apple Inc., K2 Radio reports.
The case, known as Lopez v. Apple Inc., was originally filed in 2021 and alleged that Apple’s voice assistant Siri was improperly recording user conversations and sharing private data with third parties. While Apple has denied any wrongdoing, the company has agreed to a $95 million settlement to resolve the claims.
Residents of Wyoming—along with others across the US—are eligible for compensation if they owned one or more Siri-enabled Apple devices during the specified ten-year period.
Eligible Devices Include:
iPhone
iPad
Apple Watch
MacBook
iMac
HomePod
iPod Touch
Apple TV
Each qualifying device makes the owner eligible for $20, with a maximum payout of $100 per person.
Settlement claim codes are being sent by traditional mail. Residents should monitor their mailboxes for these notices, which include detailed instructions on how to submit a claim to receive payment.
The lawsuit alleged that Apple’s Siri voice assistant could be activated unintentionally, leading to the recording and possible sharing of sensitive user conversations without consent. Apple maintains that Siri is designed with user privacy in mind and denies the accusations, but has chosen to settle the case to avoid prolonged litigation.
For more information or to check eligibility, individuals are encouraged to refer to the official settlement website once made available or wait for their mailed claim notice.
