Despite her busy schedule, Gwyneth Paltrow says she’s maintained a warm connection with Meghan Markle, months after shutting down rumors of a feud between the two, Fox News reports.
While attending the Mindvalley Manifesting Summit, the Goop founder told People magazine that she and Markle have stayed in touch.
“We have a text friendship so far,” Paltrow said. “I’ve been traveling quite a bit.”
Speculation about tension between the Montecito neighbors first arose after Paltrow told Vanity Fair that she didn’t know the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “at all,” despite briefly meeting Meghan.
“I’ve met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I don’t know her at all,” she said at the time. “Maybe I’ll try to get through their security detail and bring them a pie.”
The comment quickly went viral, sparking online rumors of a rift. But Paltrow addressed the chatter directly in March with a playful Instagram video, where she answered a fan question about the alleged feud.
“I genuinely do not understand this at all whatsoever,” Paltrow said in the clip, before turning her phone camera to reveal Markle sitting at her kitchen table eating pie, laughing at the rumors. Markle also shared the video to her own Instagram story, appearing to put the speculation to rest.
Paltrow later told People, “I don’t like that, when people try to pit women against each other.”
Asked whether she would consider appearing on the next season of Markle’s Netflix lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, Paltrow didn’t rule it out.
“Sure! Why not? You never know,” she said. “I don’t bake that well, but I can always try.”
