As the Wyoming high school soccer season approaches its final stretch, the latest standings from May 18, 2025, have set the stage for the upcoming 3A and 4A State Tournaments, scheduled for May 22–24 in Gillette, Sheridan Media reports.
Teams across the state have concluded regular-season play, with Sheridan and Buffalo both earning top seeds in their respective classifications.
Sheridan High School – 4A Competition
Boys 4A East:
Sheridan enters the 4A State Tournament tied with Cheyenne Central atop the East Conference standings. Both teams finished with a 9-1-2 conference record, totaling 29 points. However, Sheridan’s strong overall performance—14-1-2—puts them among the favorites heading into the postseason. The Broncs ended their regular season on a high note with wins over Cheyenne South (7–0), Thunder Basin (2–1), and Cheyenne Central (3–1).
Girls 4A East:
Sheridan’s girls team remains undefeated in conference play with an 11-0-1 record and a 15-0-1 overall mark. They top the 4A East standings with 34 points, entering the state tournament as the clear front-runners. Sheridan wrapped up the regular season with hard-fought victories over Campbell County (3–2 in a shootout) and Laramie (4–3), solidifying their status as one of the state’s most dominant squads.
Buffalo High School – 3A Competition
Boys 3A East:
Buffalo clinched the #1 seed in the East thanks to a tie-breaker over Torrington, with both teams finishing 9-1 in conference play and 27 points each. Buffalo allowed just two goals in conference matches, earning the advantage. The Bison capped their season with a 2–1 win over Worland, entering the 3A tournament in strong form.
Girls 3A East:
The Buffalo girls team secured a 5-5 conference record, placing fourth in the 3A East standings with 15 points. They finished 5-9 overall and will look to regroup ahead of the state tournament. Last week, they fell to second-place Worland in a 3–0 match.
Playoff Outlook
With the regular season concluded, Sheridan’s boys and girls teams will head into the 4A tournament among the top contenders, each having demonstrated consistent dominance. Buffalo’s boys team, backed by a strong defensive record, holds the top seed in the 3A East and aims to translate regular season success into postseason results. Meanwhile, the Buffalo girls will seek to play spoiler from a mid-seed position. The state tournaments begin Thursday, May 22, in Gillette.
