Fatal Motorcycle Crash Claims Life of Wyoming Woman Near Cody

A 61-year-old woman from Wyoming died in a motorcycle crash on Saturday, May 10, in Park County, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, KGAB AM 650 reports.

The incident occurred around 5:47 p.m. on Road 7 WC near milepost 1.8, just northwest of Cody in the Newton Lakes area. Authorities say the rider, identified as Lisa Akerman, was found pinned beneath her Harley-Davidson after the motorcycle went off the roadway while navigating a curve.

According to a fatality crash summary released by the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Akerman was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The report did not indicate any specific contributing factors in the accident.

Akerman’s death marks the 35th highway fatality in Wyoming this year and the second involving a motorcyclist. In 2024, a total of 24 motorcyclists lost their lives on the state’s roads.

The incident remains under investigation by the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
