A fourth escaped inmate from the Orleans Parish Jail has been captured, authorities confirmed Monday, as the search intensifies for six remaining fugitives believed to still be in the New Orleans area, as per Fox News.
“Louisiana State Police just captured inmate Gary C. Price,” the FBI’s New Orleans office posted on X. “The FBI and our law enforcement partners remain out on the street this evening searching for the remaining six. If you have any information please call 1-800-CALL-FBI or send us a tip online.”
Price, 21, was wanted on a wide range of serious charges, including seven counts of attempted first-degree murder, multiple counts of assault, domestic abuse, and resisting arrest. He is expected to be transferred to a high-security facility outside the area.
Authorities say ten inmates in total escaped the facility on Friday, prompting a multi-agency manhunt involving more than 200 local, state, and federal law enforcement personnel. Officials have not ruled out the possibility that some of the escapees may have fled the city or even left the state, though investigators believe most remain in the New Orleans area.
The six fugitives still on the run are:
- Corey E. Boyd, 19 – charged with second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery, illegal weapons possession, and obstruction of justice.
- Lenton J. Vanburen Jr., 26 – charged with weapons offenses, contraband smuggling, and obstruction of justice.
- Jermaine Donald, 42 – charged with second-degree murder, aggravated battery, illegal firearm possession, and obstruction of justice.
- Antoine Massey, 32 – charged with domestic abuse by strangulation, vehicle theft, and parole violation.
- Derrick Groves, 27 – facing three counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of second-degree murder, and battery of a correctional officer.
- Leo O. Tate Sr., 31 – charged with burglary, weapons violations, auto theft, and multiple drug offenses.
Authorities have released images of captured fugitives being escorted into a helicopter, underscoring the high-security measures in place following the jailbreak. So far, four inmates have been recaptured: Gary Price, Kendall Myles, Robert Moody, and Dkenan Dennis.
Myles, 20, was apprehended shortly after the escape following a foot chase through the French Quarter. Moody, 21, was found in New Orleans after a Crimestoppers tip, and Dennis was located near Chef Menteur Highway, according to Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill.
Sheriff Susan Hutson of Orleans Parish acknowledged the growing calls for an investigation into how the inmates managed to escape, suggesting the break may have involved inside help.
Attorney General Murrill was more blunt in her assessment:
“They clearly dropped the ball, and there’s no excuse for this.”
The FBI is offering up to $5,000 for tips leading to the arrest of each remaining fugitive.
