Wells Enterprises, an Iowa-based ice cream manufacturer known for popular brands like Blue Bunny and Halo Top, has voluntarily recalled nearly 18,000 containers of ice cream and frozen yogurt due to potential plastic contamination, according to newly released information from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as per The AP.

The recall, which was issued last month but disclosed publicly in recent days, affects 22 different flavors of ice cream and frozen yogurt packaged in 3-gallon containers. The affected products were distributed nationwide and have “Best If Used By” dates ranging from March to October 2026.

According to KXAS-TV, the recall was initiated after concerns that the containers could contain pieces of plastic, posing a potential choking hazard or risk of injury.

No injuries or illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall as of Monday, but consumers and retailers are being urged to check their stock and discard any affected products.
