Small Plane Crashes Into San Diego Neighborhood, Ignites Fires Amid Heavy Fog

A small private plane crashed into a residential neighborhood in San Diego early Thursday morning, sparking fires in at least 15 homes and forcing widespread evacuations, according to city officials, as per The AP.
The crash occurred in the Murphy Canyon area under dense fog conditions, which significantly reduced visibility.
“We have jet fuel all over the place,” said Assistant Fire Chief Dan Eddy during a press briefing. “Our main goal is to search all these homes and get everybody out right now.” He confirmed that multiple homes sustained direct impact from the crash.
Emergency crews responded quickly, evacuating several blocks as fires spread through the neighborhood. Thick fog complicated both the response and initial assessments.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the downed aircraft was a Cessna 550, a business jet that typically carries six to eight passengers. The crash occurred near Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport.
The FAA said the number of people aboard the aircraft has not yet been determined, and there was no immediate information on injuries or fatalities.
