The 2025 Wyoming State High School Track and Field Championships kicked off with strong performances across all classifications on Thursday, showcasing top talent from around the state, Casper Star-Tribune reports.

From record-breaking throws to nail-biting relay finishes, athletes made an early mark on the competition as they battled for state titles and team points.

Class 4A

Girls
Natrona County took an early lead in the team standings with 46 points, followed by Kelly Walsh (31) and Cheyenne Central (23). Highlights included:

  • 3200m Run: Maggie Madsen of Cheyenne East clocked 11:03.75 for the win.

  • Shot Put: Brynn Sybrant of Natrona County led the field with a throw of 41-00.5.

  • Long Jump: Brynn Bider from Rock Springs jumped 19-03 to take first.

Boys
Star Valley currently leads with 29 points, with Sheridan (24) and Natrona County (22) close behind.

  • 3200m Run: Jase Burton of Star Valley posted a meet-leading time of 9:16.08.

  • Pole Vault: Kavin Hoff of Natrona County cleared 16-01, setting a new overall state record.

Class 3A

Girls
Lander Valley leads the team standings with 36 points, thanks in part to standout field and distance performances.

  • Shot Put: Adelyn Anderson of Lander broke the state record with a mark of 49-07.75.

  • 3200m Run: Madison Antonino of Pinedale won in 11:08.88.

Boys
Lovell tops the boys’ team rankings with 36 points, followed closely by Worland and Cody.

  • Long Jump: Payson Hollingsworth of Douglas set a new class record with a leap of 23-04.

  • Shot Put: Bode Stone of Wheatland secured first with 50-05.5.

Class 2A

Girls
Kemmerer jumped ahead in the team race with 40 points.

  • Pole Vault: Laynee Walker of Kemmerer set a class record, clearing 11-02.

  • 3200m Run: Lyla Marney of Big Horn also set a class record with a time of 11:22.75.

Boys
Big Horn leads with 42 points, thanks to depth in distance and jumping events.

  • Long Jump: Trace Nelson led a strong Big Horn squad with a jump of 21-07.

Class 1A

Girls
Lingle-Fort Laramie holds the top team spot with 29 points.

  • 3200m Run: Jordynn Speckner of Lingle-Fort Laramie took the win in 12:19.73.

  • Long Jump: Gracie ZumBrunnen of Lusk leapt 17-04.75 for first place.

Boys
Burlington leads the standings with 26 points, narrowly ahead of Lusk and Lingle-Fort Laramie.

  • Discus: Raynce Brott of Lusk dominated with a top throw of 154-10.

  • Long Jump: Quincy Paris of Midwest jumped 22-03 to take first.
