5 More Arrests Made in New Orleans Jailbreak as Half of Escaped Inmates Remain at Large

Police made five more arrests in connection with a prison break in New Orleans this weekend, Fox News reports.
The five arrests bring the total to 12 people accused of aiding inmates before, during, or after their escape from the New Orleans Jail last week.
Those arrested include 28-year-old Lenika Vanburen, 18-year-old Patricia Vanburen, 27-year-old Tyshanea “Minnie” Randolph, 47-year-old Lenton Vanburen Sr., and 40-year-old Angel McKey. A source confirmed to Fox News that Vanburen Sr. is the father of escaped inmate Lenton Vanburen Jr.
Authorities executed a search warrant at a residence in New Orleans’ 7th District in hopes of locating the fugitive Vanburen Jr., but he was not found.
Ten inmates broke out of the jail, according to officials. The five individuals arrested this weekend were accused of specifically assisting Vanburen Jr. in evading capture.
The latest arrests follow the apprehension of another suspect, Emmitt Weber, 28, on Friday. Police say Weber helped two inmates after the Orleans Parish Correctional Facility jailbreak.
As of Sunday, five of the 10 escaped inmates remain on the run. The most recent recapture was Corey Boyd, taken into custody Tuesday.
Other inmates already back in custody include Kendell Myles, Robert Moody, Dkenan Dennis, and Gary Price.Two others — Casey Smith and Cortnie Harris — were arrested for allegedly aiding escapees. Another woman, Connie Weeden, 59, is accused of sending money to fugitive Jermaine Donald via a cellphone app. She faces a felony charge of accessory after the fact.The following inmates remain at large and are considered armed and dangerous:
- Lenton Vanburen Jr., 27 – Charges: Illegal carrying of weapons, felon in possession of a firearm, obstruction of justice, introducing contraband in prison.
- Jermaine Donald, 42 – Charges: Second-degree murder, aggravated battery, felon in possession of a firearm, obstruction of justice.
- Antoine Massey, 32 – Charges: Domestic abuse involving strangulation, motor vehicle theft, parole violation
- Derrick Groves, 27 – Charges: Three counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of second-degree murder, battery of a correctional officer.
- Leo O. Tate Sr., 31 – Charges: Burglary, felon in possession of a firearm, illegal carrying of a weapon, motor vehicle theft, multiple drug offenses.
Authorities urge anyone with information to contact law enforcement immediately.
