As Americans observe Memorial Day on Monday, May 26, 2025 — a national holiday honoring those who died while serving in the US military — many will also be making plans for gatherings, barbecues, and last-minute errands, USA Today reports.

While a number of retail and grocery stores will remain open to accommodate the holiday rush, some major chains, including Costco, will close their doors for the day.

Costco will be closed on Memorial Day 2025. According to the company’s website, all Costco warehouse locations will not operate on Monday, May 26, making it one of the few major national grocery chains to close for the holiday.
