The 2025 Wyoming high school softball season wrapped up with a competitive slate of games and a noteworthy first-year performance by Sheridan High School, which earned a spot in the state tournament in its inaugural season, Sheridan Media reports.
Across the state, teams were divided into four geographic quadrants—Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, and Southwest—with quadrant records determining state tournament seeding. Several programs posted strong showings both within their respective regions and overall, with perennial powerhouses and rising teams contributing to a dynamic year of play.
Final Quadrant Standings
Northeast Quadrant
Thunder Basin: 5-1 (20-8 overall)
Sheridan: 4-2 (19-11-2 overall)
Campbell County: 3-3 (33-5 overall)
Worland: 0-6 (3-26 overall)
Sheridan made a strong debut this year, finishing second in the quadrant and earning a berth in the state tournament, a significant accomplishment for a new program. Campbell County led the state with 33 total wins, despite finishing third in the quadrant.
Northwest Quadrant
Kelly Walsh: 4-2 (14-13 overall)
Cody: 4-2 (13-17 overall)
Natrona County: 4-2 (16-16 overall)
Jackson: 0-6 (1-25 overall)
The Northwest quadrant saw a three-way tie for first place, with Kelly Walsh, Cody, and Natrona County all finishing with identical quadrant records. Overall win-loss records broke the tie for seeding purposes heading into the postseason.
Southeast Quadrant
Cheyenne East: 5-1 (28-10 overall)
Wheatland: 4-2 (18-11-1 overall)
Cheyenne Central: 3-3 (24-12 overall)
Torrington: 0-6 (7-22 overall)
Cheyenne East posted the quadrant’s best record and one of the strongest overall records in the state, bolstered by a dominant performance in both regular season and postseason play.
Southwest Quadrant
Laramie: 5-1 (19-11 overall)
Rock Springs: 4-2 (11-17-1 overall)
Green River: 2-4 (9-18 overall)
Cheyenne South: 1-5 (2-17 overall)
Laramie secured the top spot in the Southwest with a strong quadrant showing and nearly 20 wins on the season.
Highlights from the Final Week of the Season
In the final week of play, several high-scoring and close contests highlighted the level of competition:
Campbell County defeated Rock Springs 10-0 and later went on to outscore Cheyenne Central 29-9 and 17-12 in high-powered matchups.
Cheyenne Central edged Natrona County 9-5 before falling to Campbell County multiple times.
Sheridan battled closely in its final games, including a narrow 17-20 loss to Cheyenne Central and an 8-9 defeat against Laramie.
Cheyenne East downed Cody 13-3 before falling to Campbell County 10-6.
Natrona County capped its season with a 14-12 win over Cody.
