Mass Shooting in North Philadelphia Leaves 2 Dead, 9 Injured on Memorial Day

Memorial Day gathering near Fairmount Park turned tragic Monday night after a mass shooting left two people dead and nine others wounded, including three teenagers, according to Fox News.
According to Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel, gunfire erupted around 10:27 p.m. while multiple groups of people were gathered in the area. A man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene. The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
Among the nine injured were three minors, aged 15, 16, and 17. The remaining victims are adults. All were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The crime scene spans a large area, and police say the investigation will continue into the morning hours. Authorities are working to determine how many individuals were involved in the shooting. Multiple rounds were reportedly fired, as indicated by videos circulating on social media. However, no suspects are currently in custody, and no weapons have been recovered.
Commissioner Bethel emphasized the challenge of securing such a large scene and identifying those involved.
Bethel acknowledged the solemn nature of Memorial Day and said police will provide updates as more information becomes available.
