Russia’s Ryabkov Says Trump Misguided on Ukraine, Warns of Rising Tensions Between Moscow, Washington

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov of Russia criticized President Donald Trump’s understanding of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, suggesting Trump is not fully informed about recent developments, Fox News reports.
Ryabkov’s comments were made during an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin and reported by Turkey’s Anadolu Agency.
“Trump says a lot of things,” Ryabkov said. “We, naturally, read and follow all of this. But in many ways, we come to the conclusion that Trump is not being sufficiently informed about what is really happening in the context of the Ukrainian-Russian confrontation.”
Ryabkov said that Trump was unaware of the extent of Ukrainian strikes on Russian cities, which he characterized as “terrorist attacks.” He also stated that Trump “does not fully understand that the Russian Federation is striking exclusively at Ukrainian military infrastructure or military-industrial complex facilities,” according to the report.
The U.S. president has recently attempted to position himself as a potential peace broker in the conflict, though with little success so far. In a post on Truth Social on Sunday, Trump expressed concern over Russian President Vladimir Putin’s actions, declaring that “something has happened to him. He has gone absolutely CRAZY!”
“He is needlessly killing a lot of people, and I’m not just talking about soldiers,” Trump wrote. “Missiles and drones are being shot into cities in Ukraine, for no reason whatsoever. I’ve always said that he wants ALL of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that’s proving to be right—but if he does, it will lead to the downfall of Russia!”
Trump also took aim at Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, stating:
“Zelensky is doing his Country no favors by talking the way he does. Everything out of his mouth causes problems, I don’t like it, and it better stop.”
He reiterated his long-held position that the war would never have started if he were still in office.
“This is Zelensky’s, Putin’s, and Biden’s War, not ‘Trump’s,’” he wrote. “I am only helping to put out the big and ugly fires that have been started through gross incompetence and hatred.”
