Victoria’s Secret temporarily shut down its U.S. website and some in-store services on Wednesday following what it described as a “security incident,” disrupting online operations and prompting concern among customers and investors, as per Fox News.

Visitors to the lingerie giant’s website were met with a black screen and a message stating the company was addressing a security issue:

“Valued customer, we identified and are taking steps to address a security incident. We have taken down our website and some in-store services as a precaution. Our team is working around the clock to fully restore operations,” the message read. “We appreciate your patience during this process. In the meantime, our Victoria’s Secret and PINK stores remain open and we look forward to serving you.”

While the exact nature of the incident remains unclear, a spokesperson said that Victoria’s Secret immediately implemented its internal response protocols after detecting the issue.

“Third-party experts are engaged, and we took down our website and some in-store services as a precaution,” the company said. “We are working to quickly and securely restore operations.”

The shutdown comes at a critical time for the brand’s digital commerce. In 2024, online sales accounted for approximately $2 billion—roughly one-third of the company’s total revenue.

Following the announcement, shares of Victoria’s Secret & Co. (NYSE: VSCO) tumbled nearly 7% in Wednesday trading, closing down $1.55 at $20.99.

The company has not confirmed whether customer data was compromised or whether law enforcement is involved in the investigation.
