Trump Blasts Court Ruling on Tariffs, Criticizes Federalist Society in Fiery Social Media Post

President Donald Trump issued a scathing response Thursday night following a legal setback over his proposed tariffs, lashing out at federal judges and criticizing the conservative legal network that once advised him on judicial appointments, according to Fox News.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit temporarily allowed Trump’s tariffs to remain in effect, offering the former president a brief legal reprieve. This came just a day after the U.S. Court of International Trade ruled that Trump had exceeded his authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) when imposing the measures.
In a lengthy post on Truth Social, Trump blasted the Court of International Trade’s ruling, calling it a “terrible” and “political” decision. He questioned the motives of the judges involved, suggesting that their ruling was driven by animosity toward him personally.
“Where do these initial three judges come from?” Trump wrote. “How is it possible for them to have potentially done such damage to the United States of America? Is it purely a hatred of ‘TRUMP’? What other reason could it be?”
Trump also turned his ire toward the Federalist Society, the influential conservative legal organization that advised him on judicial nominations during his presidency. He singled out Leonard Leo, co-chairman of the Federalist Society’s board of directors, accusing him of giving poor advice and placing personal ambitions above the country’s interests.
“It was suggested that I use The Federalist Society as a recommending source on Judges,” Trump stated. “I did so, openly and freely, but then realized that they were under the thumb of a real ‘sleazebag’ named Leonard Leo, a bad person who, in his own way, probably hates America.”
While Trump expressed pride in many of his judicial appointments, he said he was “very disappointed” in others, placing partial blame on the Federalist Society.
“This is something that cannot be forgotten!” he added.
The president used the post to reiterate his support for the contested tariffs, arguing that they are essential for revitalizing the American economy.
“The ruling by the U.S. Court of International Trade is so wrong, and so political!” he wrote. “Hopefully, the Supreme Court will reverse this horrible, Country-threatening decision, QUICKLY and DECISIVELY.”
Trump concluded by defending the executive authority to implement economic protection measures, stating:
“The President of the United States must be allowed to protect America against those that are doing it Economic and Financial harm.”
