The Wyoming State Capitol in Cheyenne is now operating on extended hours for the summer, offering visitors more flexibility to tour the historic building, Sheridan Media reports.

According to the Wyoming Legislative Service Office, the Capitol will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays through August 29. Additionally, Saturday hours have been added, with the building accessible from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through September 27.

These expanded hours aim to accommodate increased summer tourism and provide greater access to the Capitol for residents and visitors alike.

In addition to extended hours, the Capitol will host a special event on Thursday, July 10, from noon to 8 p.m., marking the beginning of a yearlong series of celebrations leading up to America’s 250th anniversary in 2026. The kickoff event coincides with Wyoming Statehood Day and will take place on Capitol Square.

Planned activities for the July 10 celebration include guided Capitol tours, presentations on Wyoming history, live entertainment, food trucks, and children’s activities. Organizers hope the event will offer a meaningful opportunity for people of all ages to reflect on Wyoming’s role in the nation’s 250-year journey.
