Three wrestlers from the University of Wyoming are set to compete this weekend at the U23 Nationals and U23 World Team Trials in Geneva, Ohio, University of Wyoming Athletics reports.
The event, hosted at the Spire Academy, will feature freestyle competition across multiple weight classes, with potential implications for future international team selection.
Representing the Cowboys will be Christian Carroll (97 kg), Gunner Henry (86 kg), and David Saenz (61 kg). All three will compete in the freestyle division.
Carroll, a recent transfer from Iowa State, saw limited action last season due to injury. He recorded a 5-5 record before his season was cut short. Henry, an incoming freshman from Brownsburg, Indiana, recently capped off his high school career with a state championship. Saenz, a returning Cowboy, posted an 8-7 record during the 2024–25 season, including two dual starts and four wins by bonus points.
The stakes are high at this weekend’s competition. While U23 World Team spots typically go to current Senior National Team members, a tournament victory can secure a spot if no national team member is available at that weight class.
The U23 Nationals and World Team Trials will take place Saturday and Sunday and will be streamed live on FloWrestling.
