Abigail Whitman Concludes Wyoming’s NCAA West First Round Appearance in Women’s Steeplechase

Senior Abigail Whitman wrapped up her collegiate track and field career on Saturday at E.B. Cushing Stadium in College Station, Texas, competing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase during the final day of the NCAA West First Round, News Letter Journal reports.

Representing the University of Wyoming, Whitman placed 16th in heat two with a time of 11:29.05. Her performance earned her an overall 47th-place finish in the quarterfinal round.

Whitman’s race marked the conclusion of the women’s competition for Wyoming at the NCAA West First Round.

Looking ahead, three Wyoming athletes have qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, scheduled for June 11–14 in Eugene, Oregon. Senior Daniel Reynolds is set to compete in the finals of the hammer throw and shot put on Wednesday, June 11. Junior Ryker Holtzen will take part in the 3,000-meter steeplechase semifinal on the same day, with the final scheduled for Friday, June 13. Junior Jacob White will race in the 5,000-meter final on Friday, June 13.
