‘King of the Hill’ Actor Jonathan Joss Fatally Shot in Texas at 59

Actor and voice artist Jonathan Joss, best known for voicing John Redcorn on the hit animated series King of the Hill, was shot and killed Sunday evening in San Antonio. He was 59.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting at a residence on the 200 block of Dorsey Drive shortly after 7 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Joss lying near the roadway.

Police officers administered life-saving measures until paramedics arrived, but emergency medical services pronounced Joss dead at the scene.

Authorities identified the suspect as Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, 56, who was detained at the scene and taken to police headquarters for questioning. He has since been booked on murder charges, officials confirmed to Fox News Digital. A motive has not yet been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Joss rose to fame for his portrayal of John Redcorn, a recurring character on King of the Hill, voicing the role in 34 episodes of the long-running animated sitcom.

He later appeared in several live-action roles, most notably as Ken Hotate, the head of a fictional Native American tribal council, in NBC’s Parks and Recreation. He starred alongside Amy Poehler in multiple episodes.

Joss also appeared in series such as Ray Donovan, Tulsa King—in which he played the character Bad Face—and Walker, Texas Ranger, where he portrayed Raymond Firewalker.

His last credited role was in 2023’s Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty video game, where he voiced a supporting character. He also appeared in the 2022 sci-fi film Abduction of the Fourth Kind.

Known for his powerful voice and dedication to Native American representation on screen, Joss was widely respected within the entertainment industry and among fans.

As of Tuesday, tributes from colleagues and admirers were beginning to circulate online, honoring his legacy and contributions to both animation and television.
