Two individuals from Wyoming lost their lives and a third person was injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash that occurred north of Newcastle on Friday night, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

The incident took place around 10 p.m. near milepost 16 on Oil Creek Road. According to the patrol’s fatality crash summary, the vehicle — a Jeep — went off the right side of the roadway before launching off an embankment. The vehicle reportedly traveled 76 feet through the air before hitting the ground and rolling several times.

The crash resulted in the deaths of 31-year-old Dalton Schrader and 26-year-old Ethan Schuessler. Officials noted that neither individual was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

A third occupant was also injured, although details regarding the extent of their injuries were not disclosed in the summary.

Speed is listed as a possible contributing factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

As of this incident, Schrader and Schuessler are the 38th and 39th fatalities reported on Wyoming highways in 2025.
