After nearly a decade of dedicated service, K9 Duster of the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) has officially retired.

The explosives detection dog has played a key role in maintaining public safety across the state, including conducting regular security sweeps at the Capitol in Cheyenne and screening large public events for potential threats.

Throughout his nine years on duty, Duster worked closely with WHP troopers to help ensure the safety of both law enforcement personnel and Wyoming residents. His specialized training in explosives detection made him an essential part of WHP’s public safety operations.

WHP announced Duster’s retirement in a public message of appreciation, noting that his future will be filled with “belly rubs and naps in the sun.”
