University of Wyoming athletes Daniel Reynolds and Ryker Holtzen concluded their outdoor track and field seasons with All-America honors during the opening day of the NCAA Championships held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, Casper Star-Tribune reports.

Reynolds, a senior from Granby, Colorado, competed in both the hammer throw and shot put events on Wednesday. Entering the competition with the ninth-best qualifying mark in the hammer throw, Reynolds advanced to the finals after recording a throw of 225 feet, 4 inches during his first three attempts. He improved in the final round with a top mark of 228 feet, 7 inches, earning him a seventh-place finish and first-team All-America recognition. Reynolds also competed in the shot put, where he placed 22nd with a throw of 58 feet, 5.75 inches after fouling on two of his three attempts.

Although Reynolds did not reach the podium in Eugene, he ends his senior season as an NCAA indoor champion in the weight throw and a two-time All-American.

Holtzen, a junior, competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and clocked a time of 8 minutes, 38.09 seconds in the first heat. After both heats were completed, his time ranked 15th overall, which was not enough to advance to the finals but secured him second-team All-America honors.

One Wyoming athlete remains in the competition—Jacob White, who will race in the men’s 5,000-meter final on Friday night.

In other results featuring Wyoming natives, Sheridan’s Texas Tanner, now competing for Air Force, earned first-team All-America status with a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw (246-9). Star Valley’s Peter Visser, representing Weber State, placed 17th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:40.84. Rawlins native Sydney Thorvaldson, a senior at Arkansas, is set to compete in the women’s 10,000-meter run on Thursday evening.
