Central Wyoming College has announced a special screening of Generation Warrior, a new documentary exploring the lives of Native youth growing up on the Wind River Indian Reservation, County 10 reports.

The screening will take place on Tuesday, June 24, at 7 p.m. in the Robert Peck Theater in Riverton.

The film follows eight young adults from the Arapaho and Shoshone Tribes over the course of four years, offering a personal and unfiltered look at the challenges they face as they navigate adulthood in a complex social and cultural landscape. Participants featured in the documentary include Darious Tillman, Hudda Curry, Halle Robinson, Taylee Dresser, Gene Trosper, Gabby St. Clair, and Carmen and Matthew Underwood.

A catered reception will precede the screening at 6 p.m. and will also follow the event. The evening will also celebrate the opening of Native Currents, an art exhibition curated by Al Hubbard and Nita Kehoe, presented in conjunction with the screening.

Following the film, a Q&A session moderated by Co-Producer Lynette St. Clair will feature filmmakers and production team members. In addition to Co-Producers Jordan Dresser and St. Clair, the panel will include Directors Bobbie Birleffi and Jeanne Begley, Associate Producer Beverly Kopf, Directors of Photography Colin Witherill and Alex Witkowicz, Sound Mixer Rich Jacobs, and Second Camera Operator Cheshire Lai.

The documentary was produced in collaboration with several Wyoming-based and national contributors. Dresser, a former Arapaho Tribal Chairman, has previously worked on several documentary projects, including Who She Is and Home From School: The Children of Carlisle. St. Clair is a cultural preservationist who has served as a language consultant for television productions such as Outer Range and American Primeval. Birleffi and Begley, both EMMY award-winning producers and directors, bring extensive experience in nonfiction storytelling.

The project is supported by the Hughes Charitable Trust, Wyoming Humanities, and the Wyoming Community Foundation, which served as the film’s fiscal sponsor. The film is dedicated to the memory of Berte Hirschfield, a longtime supporter of the Wind River community whose advocacy helped bring the project to life.

Original music for Generation Warrior was composed by Wind River singer-songwriter Christian Wallowing Bull, with a score by award-winning composer Miriam Cutler.
