The ongoing military escalation between Iran and Israel has intensified, with both sides launching fresh attacks on each other’s territories for a seventh straight day. Iran fired a volley of missiles into multiple locations across Israel, including the southern city of Beersheba, where a hospital was damaged. In response, Israel bombed Iran’s Khondab heavy water nuclear facility, formerly known as Arak.

According to Israel’s Ministry of Health, at least 240 people were injured in the Iranian barrage. Four sustained serious injuries, while 70 others were treated at Soroka Medical Center, which suffered light damage during the strikes.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the missiles were aimed at a military and intelligence hub adjacent to Soroka hospital, and that the damage to the medical facility was “superficial.”

Additional Iranian missiles struck several other areas, including Tel Aviv and its districts of Holon and Ramat Gan, according to Israeli media.

In retaliation, the Israeli military launched a wide-scale air assault on Iranian territory, striking key sites including the Natanz enrichment plant and the Khondab nuclear reactor. The Israeli army said it targeted the “core seal structure” of the reactor—a crucial component in potential plutonium production.

Iranian state media reported that air defence systems were activated near Khondab and confirmed that two projectiles landed nearby. Authorities said preventive evacuations were carried out before the strike, and no casualties or radiation threats were reported.

In a separate development, a spokesperson from the Israeli military initially stated that Israel had bombed the Bushehr nuclear power plant along Iran’s southern coast. However, this claim was later walked back, with an official saying the statement was made in error and could not confirm the site had been hit.

This latest round of hostilities follows Israel’s major attack last Friday on Iranian military installations, which resulted in the deaths of several high-ranking officers and nuclear scientists. Since then, Iran has retaliated with waves of missile attacks targeting Israeli cities and infrastructure. While Israel’s air defences have intercepted many of the incoming missiles, tensions continue to rise, with no sign of de-escalation.

As the conflict threatens to spiral into a broader regional war, international actors including the United Nations have urged both sides to halt military action and pursue diplomatic solutions.
