Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his fiancée Lauren Sanchez are set to marry this week during an elaborate multi-day celebration in Venice, Italy — a high-profile event drawing international attention not just for its guest list and setting, but also for its scale and cost, FOX Business reports.

According to media reports, the festivities span three days and include roughly 200 guests. Estimates suggest the cost of the wedding could fall between $10 million and $20 million, though no official figures have been confirmed by representatives for the couple.

The main ceremony is expected to take place aboard Bezos’ 417-foot superyacht, Koru, which is anchored in the Venetian lagoon. Additional venues potentially tied to the wedding include notable Venetian landmarks such as San Giorgio Maggiore.

Despite the event’s scale, organizers have emphasized their commitment to minimizing disruption to the city and supporting the local economy. According to Lanza & Baucina Limited, the wedding planning firm overseeing the event, approximately 80% of goods and services are being sourced from local Venetian vendors.

Companies involved reportedly include traditional pastry maker Rosa Salva and artisan glassware firm Laguna B, among others.

In a statement, the planners said the couple prioritized respect for Venice and its residents.

“Rumors of ‘taking over’ the city are entirely false,” the statement read. “No exaggerated quantity of water taxis or gondolas have ever been booked.”

Officials confirmed only about 30 of Venice’s 280 water taxis have been reserved for the event.

The wedding has sparked some concern locally about the potential for disruption in the historic city, which regularly hosts major international gatherings such as the Venice Film Festival and G20 summits. However, city officials have reiterated that the event poses no major logistical challenges and have emphasized that Venice is equipped to handle large-scale functions without interrupting daily life.

Bezos, who has a reported net worth exceeding $220 billion, is the founder of Amazon and aerospace firm Blue Origin. He also owns The Washington Post. Sanchez, a former news anchor and helicopter pilot, has been engaged to Bezos since 2023. Both have previously been married.

The couple’s wedding has been the subject of widespread speculation since earlier this year, when Venice was announced as the chosen destination. An earlier, false rumor that Bezos planned a $600 million wedding in Aspen, Colorado, was publicly denied by the billionaire on social media.
