Saudi club Al Hilal delivered a stunning upset against European champions Manchester City, winning 4-3 after extra time to advance to the Club World Cup quarterfinals.

The match, played in Orlando, saw Manchester City take an early lead in the ninth minute through Bernardo Silva. Al Hilal responded early in the second half when Marcos Leonardo equalized in the 46th minute, followed by a goal from Malcom six minutes later to put the Saudi side ahead. City’s Erling Haaland leveled the score in the 55th minute, forcing the match into extra time at 2-2.

Al Hilal regained the lead when Kalidou Koulibaly scored with a header from a corner, making it 3-2. City fought back as Phil Foden found the net in the 104th minute to equalize once again. However, Marcos Leonardo struck his second goal in the 112th minute, securing a historic 4-3 victory for Al Hilal.

Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou made several key saves to deny Manchester City in the final moments, preserving the lead and ensuring Al Hilal’s progression in the tournament. The win marks a significant moment for the Saudi club as they prepare to face Fluminense in the quarterfinals.
