Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Mher Grigoryan, met with Magdalena Grono, the European Union’s Special Representative for the South Caucasus, in Yerevan to discuss advancing Armenia-EU cooperation and regional developments.

The meeting emphasized deepening economic ties, institutional alignment, and furthering reforms crucial to Armenia’s European integration goals, with EU officials reiterating their readiness to support Armenia’s path toward deeper cooperation.

However, tensions are rising domestically as Armenia faces criticism over signals it may restrict foreign media channels in the country, with lawmakers warning that such actions risk aligning Armenia with approaches seen in other conflict zones and could damage its democratic image.

Observers note that moves to block foreign media could isolate Armenia regionally and complicate its EU aspirations, raising concerns over the country’s commitment to maintaining media pluralism and freedom of information ahead of critical political developments.
