Tech billionaire Elon Musk has launched a sharp rebuke of President Trump’s recently unveiled “One Big Beautiful Bill,” calling the sweeping tax and spending package a “disgusting abomination” and declaring it is time for a new political party in the United States.

Musk, who has previously supported some of Trump’s economic initiatives, took to X to voice his frustration, warning that the bill’s expansive tax cuts, rollback of electric vehicle incentives, and increases in federal spending represent a betrayal of fiscal responsibility and American taxpayers.

“It’s time for a new political party that actually cares about the people,” Musk posted, proposing the formation of an “America Party” to challenge what he described as a culture of reckless government spending and backroom deals.

He further warned lawmakers who supported the bill that they “should hang their head in shame” and vowed to actively work against them in upcoming primaries, pledging that they “will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.”

The “One Big Beautiful Bill,” a signature initiative under Trump’s administration, aims to reshape the nation’s economic landscape with broad tax reductions while reducing federal support for clean energy initiatives, including subsidies and credits that have benefited companies like Tesla in the past.

President Trump, in response to Musk’s criticism, defended the bill as essential for “unleashing American prosperity” and dismissed concerns over its impact on federal spending. The president emphasized that the legislation is designed to “put more money in the hands of working Americans” and ensure a competitive economy.

The escalating dispute marks a significant shift in the relationship between Musk and Trump, who have previously found common ground on economic growth and deregulation. Musk’s public call for a new political movement underscores a growing divide over the future of economic policy, spending, and the direction of American leadership.

As the debate continues, Musk’s comments have energized some factions within the business community and among voters seeking alternatives to existing party structures, signaling a potential shift in the political landscape as the nation moves toward the 2026 midterms.
