President Trump publicly called out Republican holdouts in the House of Representatives as the chamber’s procedural vote on his major legislative package stalled, delaying the passage of what has been dubbed the “Megabill.”

The legislation, which includes sweeping tax cuts, increased border security funding, and changes to entitlement programs, is a central piece of Trump’s economic and domestic agenda. However, internal Republican disagreements over spending levels and specific program cuts have slowed the process, despite the bill having already passed the Senate.

During remarks to reporters and in posts on social media, Trump expressed frustration with members of his party, warning that the delay could cost the GOP politically if the bill’s benefits are not delivered promptly. He urged House Republicans to unify behind the legislation, emphasizing its significance in reducing taxes and increasing funding for border enforcement and defense.

House Speaker Mike Johnson has been working to secure the necessary votes to advance the bill, holding negotiations with both fiscal conservatives concerned about deficit impacts and moderates wary of cuts to Medicaid and other programs. The procedural vote, which would move the bill toward a final floor vote, remains open as negotiations continue.

Trump emphasized that the legislation is essential for delivering on campaign promises, particularly on tax relief and national security. He warned that prolonged infighting risks undermining Republican momentum ahead of upcoming elections, urging lawmakers to act swiftly.

The House is expected to reconvene to address the bill once internal negotiations are complete, with leadership indicating confidence that a final vote can be secured in the coming days.
