Two Chinese nationals have been indicted in the United States for allegedly attempting to recruit active-duty U.S. military personnel to gather classified information. According to federal prosecutors, the suspects approached military members stationed in the United States and abroad, offering payments in exchange for secret materials.

The indictment outlines that between 2023 and 2025, the individuals used covert communication methods and financial incentives to target servicemembers. The alleged recruitment efforts included seeking details on military capabilities, deployment schedules, and personnel evaluations.

The suspects were arrested following a joint operation by the FBI, the Department of Defense, and other federal agencies. Court documents state that both face charges under the Espionage Act and may receive significant prison sentences if convicted.

U.S. intelligence officials described the recruitment attempt as part of a broader pattern of espionage threats from foreign governments targeting American military and government officials. Authorities emphasized that the arrests reflect ongoing vigilance and collaboration across agencies to identify and disrupt such plots.
