A ferry carrying around 65 passengers sank off the coast of Bali, Indonesia, resulting in dozens of people reported missing after the vessel went down during rough seas.

The ship encountered turbulent waters late Wednesday as it sailed between small islands near Bali. Local rescue agencies responded immediately, deploying boats and helicopters to search for survivors. So far, rescue teams have confirmed recovering several passengers, but the whereabouts of more than 30 individuals remain unknown.

Authorities have urged fishermen and nearby vessels to assist rescue efforts in the challenging sea conditions. Officials are investigating the ferry’s passenger manifest to identify those on board and reach their families with updates.

Weather conditions in the region are expected to remain rough, potentially hampering search operations. The search-and-rescue mission will continue for the next 24 hours, focusing on both people in the water and possible debris from the ferry.
