A two-vehicle crash at a rural intersection north of Cheyenne on Monday resulted in the death of a 78-year-old Wyoming woman and injuries to two others, according to a preliminary report released by the Wyoming Department of Transportation, Cap City News reports.
The incident occurred around 10:39 a.m. at the intersection of Wyoming Highway 211 (Iron Mountain Road) and Wyoming Highway 219 (Yellowstone Road). The report, based on information gathered by the Wyoming Highway Patrol at the scene, indicates that a Ford Explorer, traveling west on Highway 211, entered the intersection at the same time a Jeep Grand Cherokee was heading south on Highway 219.
Although vehicles on Highway 219 have the right of way at that intersection, the Ford reportedly did not see the oncoming Jeep. The Jeep collided with the passenger side of the Ford Explorer, where Linda Brown, 78, was seated. Brown was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two other individuals involved in the collision—believed to be the drivers of each vehicle—sustained injuries. The report did not provide details on their conditions or confirm whether they were wearing seat belts.
Weather and lighting conditions at the time of the crash were reported as clear, and visibility did not appear to be a contributing factor.
This information is based on the Wyoming Highway Patrol’s preliminary findings and may be updated as the investigation continues.
