The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will offer two timber sales totaling up to 3.4 million board feet from public lands in northeast Wyoming, the Bureau of Land Management reports.

The sales, located in Crook and Weston counties, will allow harvesting across approximately 1,273 acres.

The timber harvested through these projects is intended to supply critical resources to the construction and manufacturing sectors while also supporting local employment and contributing to rural economies. In addition to economic benefits, the BLM notes that the projects are designed to promote forest health, reduce wildfire risks by lowering fuel loads, improve public and firefighter safety, and enhance habitat for wildlife and grazing conditions.

The Stateline Timber Sale covers about 651 acres and includes an estimated 2.4 million board feet of timber through commercial thinning. The Goldie Divide Timber Sale, similarly focused on commercial thinning, will offer roughly 1 million board feet across 622 acres.

Bidding for both timber sales will open at 11 a.m. Mountain Time on August 8. All bids must be received by mail or delivered in person at the BLM Newcastle Field Office—located at 1101 Washington Blvd., Newcastle, WY 82701—at least 30 minutes before the scheduled opening.

These timber offerings align with Executive Order 14225, titled “Immediate Expansion of American Timber Production,” which emphasizes the use of domestic forest resources to support industry and job creation.

The BLM oversees approximately 245 million acres of public land, mostly in western states and Alaska, and manages around 700 million acres of subsurface mineral estate nationwide.
