Hamas has agreed to release 10 Israeli captives, including individuals confirmed to be alive, as part of ongoing negotiations for a potential ceasefire, according to statements from the group.

Senior Hamas official Taher al-Nunu described the talks as “tough,” noting that while progress has been made, significant issues remain unresolved. The proposed deal, supported by Qatar and the United States, reportedly includes provisions for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from parts of Gaza, increased humanitarian aid access, and steps toward a lasting ceasefire.

While these negotiations advance, Israeli military operations in Gaza have continued, with the Gaza Health Ministry reporting that at least 74 Palestinians were killed in strikes on Wednesday. Among those killed were civilians waiting in line for food aid, underscoring the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the territory.

In the United States, President Donald Trump expressed cautious optimism about the ceasefire discussions, stating there is a “very good chance” of reaching an agreement soon, while acknowledging challenges remain before a final deal can be secured.

Details regarding the captives to be released have not been fully disclosed, but reports indicate the agreement includes the return of the remains of deceased individuals alongside the release of living hostages, with Hamas seeking the release of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel in exchange.
