Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has received a six-month suspended prison sentence and a financial penalty after being found guilty of tax fraud in Spain.
Spanish authorities determined that Ancelotti failed to report income related to image rights during his tenure managing Real Madrid between 2013 and 2015. The undeclared income was linked to sponsorship and promotional deals signed while he was under contract with the club.
Under Spanish law, Ancelotti will not serve time in prison as the sentence is under two years and applies to a non-violent financial offense, provided he complies with legal and financial conditions set by the court.
Ancelotti’s legal team acknowledged the ruling, noting that the coach will continue in his role at Real Madrid without disruption. The club has not commented on the matter, and Ancelotti is expected to oversee pre-season preparations as planned.
Spain has recently intensified its pursuit of tax cases involving high-profile figures in sports and entertainment, emphasizing the country’s commitment to enforcing tax compliance among public figures.
