Linda Yaccarino has stepped down as the chief executive of X, Elon Musk’s social media company, effective immediately, according to an official statement released on Tuesday.
Yaccarino’s departure comes after a brief but high-profile tenure—she joined X in mid-2023 and focused on scaling advertising revenue and improving relationships with major brands. During her leadership, the platform secured several new advertising partners, though it continued to face scrutiny over content moderation and advertiser trust.
In her resignation letter, Yaccarino noted the company has reached a point where it “requires a different leadership approach” to navigate its next growth phase. She expressed gratitude to the X community and said she remains proud of her contributions to its business strategy and partner relations.
Elon Musk, founder and owner of X, thanked Yaccarino for her work in accelerating monetization and reaffirmed his confidence in the company’s direction under new leadership. He stated that the board is already evaluating potential successors and will announce an interim executive in the coming days.
Analysts suggest Yaccarino’s exit reflects broader challenges in balancing rapid platform growth with advertiser expectations and public relations. The company now faces a transitional period as it reshapes its executive leadership and refines its strategy ahead of key revenue targets.
