Xi Declares Strong Rebound in China–Australia Relations as He Hosts Albanese

Chinese President Xi Jinping has noted a strong revival in ties between China and Australia during his meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Beijing.
In talks conducted at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, Xi said:
“No matter how the international landscape may evolve, we should uphold this overall direction unswervingly.”
He added that bilateral ties had “turned around,” marking a major improvement after years of tensions, saying that it is beneficial not only to the countries but also to regional security and economic develpoment.
Prime Minister Albanese outlined the importance of productive engagement, praising the latest diplomatic efforts as a way for deeper collaboration in climate, trade and education.
“Australia values our relationship with China and will continue to approach it in a calm and consistent manner, guided by our national interest,” he said.
The leaders agreed to resume high-level dialogues, including trips by high-ranking government officials ministers and more diplomatic exchanges.
Xi praised a rise in Australian investment in China and welcomed the resumption of student and tourist exchanges.
Albanese outlined the benefits of diversified trade routes, noting that the revival of cooperation in all areas would provide stability to domestic industries in both countries.
The meeting concluded with both leaders reiterating their commitment to a “mutually respectful and pragmatic” partnership and pledging collaboration in regional forums such as the G20 and the Indo-Pacific Economic Forum.
